If you genuinely want to get away from it all, the Drôme department provides a real change of scene.
The circuit starts and finishes in the Valley of the Drôme.You'll enjoy cycling along the quiet little roads of the Bourdeaux area, and going south into Drôme Provençale with its gorgeous colours and scents.

The Drôme - so good you could eat it!
The Drôme des collines ('hills’) to the north is characterised by reforestation and vineyards producing excellent wines such as those of Tain l’Hermitage.
A little to the north-east the Royans-Vercors area is the home of the delicious “ravioles”, created by the Italian lumberjacks who came to work the woods of the Vercors.
To the south, the valley of the Drôme river and the Die area (the “Diois”) are the home of the “villages perchés” (hilltop villages) which rise up like medieval fortresses. But there’s more. This is where the sweet and sparkling AOC wine, Clairette de Die, is made. It goes so well with its sunny environment and scented summer fields.
In the far south of the department lies Drôme Provençale, where the sun soaks into the heady fields of lavender, the olive groves of Nyons, and the vineyards of Tricastin, three symbols of this superb region.
Picodon, a marvellous little goat’s milk cheese, and truffles, the black gold of the region, complete the gastronomic picture. All five have been granted AOC status by a grateful nation!
