These walks have been carefully chosen to bring you into close contact with the scents and flavours of Drôme Provençale. Wander along little-known paths which weave through vineyards, orchards of peach, apricot, and cherry, woods with truffle oaks and lime trees. Then high on a hill, just breathe in the heady perfume that drifts across a field of lavender. Explore delightful Provençal villages along the way, and linger in the shade of leafy paths in unspoilt natural surroundings drenched in the intense light of the South.
A holiday full of the sights and scents each season has to offer, where your hosts will welcome you with becoming warmth.

  • the azur blue of Provence

Program : Lavender blue in Drôme Provençale

  • D1 Arrival in Venterol

    Things to see:
Vineyards of the Côtes du Rhône AOC wine, a traditional provençal farmhouse.

Dinner at a restaurant in Venterol and night in a Drôme farm guesthouse with swimming pool.

  • D2 Walk around Venterol

    5.4 km with total uphill 270 m (level 2/5). Duration around 2hrs30.
This walk presents no particular difficulty. It's a steady-going route which takes you deep into the heartland of apricot, cherry, olive and lavender orchards, and of course vineyards which seem to go on forever!
An air of Provence indeed, of which the cicadas won't fail to remind you!

Dinner at your leasure and night at the farm guesthouse.

  • D3 Walk from Venterol to La Roche St Secret

    17 km with total uphill 415 m (level 2/5). Duration around 6hrs.
The way takes you little by little into the secret interior of this provençal land. The first part offers and exploration of two lovely villages, Rousset les Vignes and Le Pègue. Then the mountains rise up, the valleys grow narrower, and the view from the guest house underlines the immensity of this wild countryside.

Dinner and night in guesthouse with pool.

  • D4 Walk around La Roche St Secret

    8.5 km with total uphill 290 m (level 1/5). Duration around 3hrs.
Pleasant loop-walk that brings you back to the village of La Roche St Secret through unspoilt countryside. You may like to bathe in the Lez or do a little shopping in the village. Or why not take a break on the terrace of a little café?

Dinner and night at the guesthouse.

  • D5 Walk from La Roche St Secret to Teyssières

    12.7km with total uphill 650 m (level 2/5). Duration about 4hrs50
This outing is the most natural and the most mountainous part of the holiday. There's a big section through forest, but there are still clearings and peaks from which you get great views of superb panoramas.

Dinner and night at a provençal guesthouse with its own pool.

  • D6 From Teyssières to Venterol

    15.6 km with total uphill 415 m (level 3/5). Duration around 5hrs40.
On this last walk you pass through some pretty wild countryside, with a steep if short climb up to the Col (pass) de Lachaud. As a reward for your efforts, there's a descent to to the Combe (valley) de Sauve. The scents and sights of these Provençal mountains are as ever, delicious. Once you have been there you'll want to come back! In good weather you may like to take a dip in the river Sauve to freshen up...

Pick up your own vehicle and go back to the guesthouse for the last night.
Except clients who arrive by train, please inform us and you will pass the last night in Venterol.

Organisation

These walks are much more about relaxed exploration than athletic performance. Your roadbook will guide you from beginning to end, and at each stage you'll find a place for the donkey to drink, eat and rest. We provide the logistical and technical support necessary.

Leading a pack donkey: travelling with a donkey is a superb way of enjoying a family walking holiday at the slow rhythm of the animal. They are great company for children and adults alike.
The donkey's role is to carry your baggage for the day (or the whole trip in the case of short stays). It can also, under your supervision and at your own risk, carry the children one-at-a time if they start to feel too tired, provided that
1) they are at least 4 years old and capable of holding themselves seated upright on the animal;
2) the terrain is even, and
3) the donkey's total load is less than 40 kilograms.
Looking after a donkey requires some attention, which is why we only provide one donkey per family per holiday.

On longer holidays you change accommodation every other day, which gives you the chance to better explore your surroundings or simply take the time to relax...

Accommodation (3 'épis' guest houses) has been chosen for its atmosphere, warm welcome and environmental and architectural excellence.
N.B : the accommodation described above is given as an indication and may vary according to availability at the moment your reservation is finalized.
