Presentation

The cycle route between Dijon and Mâcon is a unique experience in the heart of Burgundy and its wines. The first part of the itinerary plunges you into an incredible viticultural landscape shaped by man. You'll discover a rich local gastronomy and visit emblematic sites such as the Hospices de Beaune and the Cité des Climats et Vins de Bourgogne. The second part of this cycling tour immerses you in the wilderness of the Saône riverbanks and its wildlife. Between tastings of local produce and contrasting landscapes, this bike ride is a true celebration of Burgundy flavors that will delight lovers of nature and fine wines.

Program : Burgundy wines by bike from Dijon to Macon

  • D1 Arrival in Dijon

    Arrive late afternoon in Dijon.

    Renowned for its mustard, Dijon is also famous for its prestigious wines. Take time to stroll through the streets of the old town, where you'll find numerous delicatessens, stores selling local specialties and markets brimming with fresh produce.

  • D2 Cycling from Dijon to Beaune

    51 km - Duration about : 4h30

    You'll leave Burgundy's historic capital and embark on the famous Route des Grands Crus. The cycle path takes you to the heart of exceptional domains such as Gevrey-Chambertin, Vosne-Romanée, Clos de Vougeot and ..... Let yourself be seduced by the diversity of the vineyard landscapes, which change color with the seasons. Each is an invitation to pause for a tasting and delve into the art of Burgundian winemaking. Continue your journey through the climats of the Côte de Nuits before arriving in Beaune. Allow a few hours to visit the famous Hospices with their colorful tiled roofs.

  • D3 Cycling from Beaune to Chalon-sur-Saône

    42 km - Duration about : 4h00

    This morning, still on the Voie des Vignes, it's through the unmissable vineyards of Pommard and Meursault that you make your way. Depending on the season, you'll see winegrowers working their vines by hand or with horses.  You'll then join the Voie Verte, which runs along a former railroad line. This stretch of the route is particularly pleasant, offering superb views of the surrounding countryside. Enjoy the tranquil beauty of the Saône valley before arriving in Chalon-sur-Saône.

    In the evening, indulge in Burgundy snails, boeuf bourguignon or oeufs en meurette.

  • D4 Cycling from Chalon-sur-saône to Tournus

    35 km - Duration about : 3h00

    Today, embark on the Voie Bleue, the cycle route linking Luxembourg to Lyon. Close to the Saône River, this cycle path offers magnificent views of the river and its wildlife in a peaceful atmosphere conducive to relaxation. Between fields and forests, enjoy a stopover in one of the charming villages along the way to sample local goat's cheese and other regional delicacies.

    The small town of Tournus welcomes you for the night. Enjoy the charm of its medieval streets, colorful facades and rich historical heritage.

  • D5 Cycling from Tournus to Mâcon

    34 km - Duration about : 3h00

    The Voie Bleue guides you on this final day.  You enter the Maconnais region, famous for its white wines, including Pouilly-Fuissé and Viré-Clessé. You'll appreciate the wilderness of this itinerary. Like a life-size bird park, you might spot a stork, kingfisher or curlew. Open your eyes wide and savor these timeless moments.

    In Mâcon, we recommend a visit to the Cité des Climats et Vins de Bourgogne. The multi-sensory scenography is a great success and a perfect conclusion to this stay in the heart of Burgundy wines.
